Parents of Idaho University Murder Victim Vow Ex-Boyfriend’s Innocence in Case: ‘We Stand Behind Jack 1000%’

The parents of murdered University of Idaho student Kaylee Goncalves said Sunday that police don’t know jack about Jack.

National attention has been focused on the small university town Moscow, Idaho after four students were found murdered in their apartment November 13.

Ms. Goncalves called her ex-boyfriend of many year — Jack — ten times in the hour before her murder, according to an Inside Edition report. The report noted “Jack” did not answer any of the coed’s calls that fateful morning.

After Moscow Police declared the two surviving female housemates were not considered suspects, speculation grew about whether Jack was responsible.

The stabbed sorority sister’s parents refute suggestions that the ex-boyfriend was involved in the gruesome early morning murders. Steve and Kristi Goncalves spoke at length Sunday with Lawrence Jone, who hosts the Fox News program “Cross Country”.

“We love Jack, absolutely love Jack,” stated Kristi Goncalves. “We stand behind Jack 1,000 percent.”

“Jack was her boyfriend for many years,” she continued, “they spoke every day.”

Her father, Steve Goncalves, noted that one of his daughter’s call to Jack was asking him to get back to her.

“We share a dog together,” Ms. Goncalves said in one call to Jack, “you need to reach out to me.”

Goncalves’ mother added that her daughter was the one who broke off the relationship. She chalked it up to her daughter being a brat who would have changed her mind. She added authorities were wasting their time concentrating on Jack.

“Kaylee and Jack would have eventually been married and they would have eventually had children together,” the distraught mother said, adding, “They were close to getting back together.”

Local police are being aided by Idaho State Police, County Sheriff’s Deputies and an FBI task force, according to Moscow PD Chief James Fry.

Mrs. Goncalves said investigators were able to pull a ton of evidence out of the house and they are processing it. She noted the feds transported a mobile crime processing unit to the area to speed up testing.

University of Idaho students Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Ethan Chapin and Xana Kernodle were stabbed to death November 13 with a knife, according to Latah County Coroner Cathy Mabbutt.

Mabbutt said it appears the victims were asleep when the killer struck. At least one victim may have awakened enough to fight back based on defensive wounds noted during autopsy. Each victim was stabbed more than once, she said, saying the attack seemed personal. Mabbutt added that autopsies conducted by the Spokane County Coroner’s office found no evidence of sexual assault.

Moscow police officers responded to the King Road apartment after a 911 dispatcher received a report of an unconscious person around noon on November 13. Mogen, Goncalves, Chapin and Kernodle were discovered dead in the residence, police said.

The identity of the 911 caller has not been released, according to police.
