Mike Tyson Reveals He’s Gone From ‘All-Out Liberal’ to ‘a Little Conservative’ Because of ‘Common Sense’

Boxing notable Mike Tyson, 56, who recently told therapist Sean McFarland on the “Hotboxin’ With Mike Tyson” podcast that he does not have long to live, is now reflecting on higher truths and declares he is no longer an “all-out liberal,” and has become “a little conservative,” because of “common sense.”

Mike Tyson explained his gradual move toward conservativism in an interview with Newsmax, though he initially expressed hesitations about discussing his political views.

“Listen, if I start talking politics, my friends are not going to like me,” Tyson said. “Hey, let’s just not do that, okay? Let’s just not do that.”

“My family gets mad; my friends get mad when we talk politics.”

However, after some coaxing from host Greta Van Susteren, Tyson decided to share his views.

“Now listen, when I was younger, I was all-out liberal,” Tyson said. “But as I get older and I look at my children, and I see what’s out in the world, I get a little conservative.”

Equal to the surprise that Tyson had shifted his thinking to the Right, was why he decided to make the leap — knowing that it would cost him.

As to the why, Tyson noted, “It’s common sense, looking at the world at the stage it’s in right now. You want safety.”

Van Susteren noted that Tyson had moved to Florida, home to two notable conservatives — Gov. Ron DeSantis and former President Donald Trump. Responding to Van Susteren’s prompt to comment on the 2024 election, Tyson said:

“Hey listen, I can’t names … I can’t talk about no politicians,” Tyson said. “It’s just last time I put my hat in the arena and gave my opinion, wow, did they give me a beating.”

Van Susteren complimented the ex-champ by noting that not many people could “give Mike Tyson a beating.”

Tyson responded by saying, “the press was a powerful entity.”

“I’m gonna stay away from politics and religion,” Tyson said. “They stole my freedom of speech.”

The first time Mike Tyson voted was in the 2020 presidential election. In September 2020 Tyson tweeted:

“This election will be my 1st time voting. I never thought I could because of my felony record. I’m proud to finally vote. Go to usa.gov/register-to-vote to register.”

Tyson has not publicly shared who he is supporting in the midterms or in the coming 2024 election. However, his disclosure of moving to the conservative camp is joined by several once-liberal celebrities moving to the political right.
