Following winning control of the House in the midterm election, several Republican Congressmen are signaling their intent to investigate President Joe Biden. Their announcement follows claims that information gleaned from Hunter Biden’s laptop may indicate the President is “compromised by foreign governments” and could be a “security risk” to the United States.
Reps. James Comer (R-Ky.) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) note there are serious questions regarding Hunter Biden’s “shady” business dealings in the Ukraine and China, and whether or not then Vice President Biden supported and benefited from that work.
The announcement comes as Nancy Pelosi prepares to step down from her position as Speaker of the House and key committees prepare to be restaffed with Republican members. Reps. Comer and Jordan are warning that one of the first things reorganized House Judiciary and Oversight committees could do is launch an investigation into the business dealings of the Biden family.
“Our investigation is about Joe Biden,” Comer said. “Was Joe Biden directly involved with Hunter Biden’s business deals, and is he compromised? That’s our investigation.”
“We’re not trying to prove Hunter Biden is a bad actor,” Comer added. “He is.”
Citing multiple whistleblowers, Comer alleges that Joe Biden, 79, was directly involved in his son’s foreign business dealings and inappropriately used his government position to secure contracts from which Hunter and the Vice President personally benefited.
The charges contradict Joe Biden’s statements assuring he did not know the details of Hunter’s business dealings.
Comer claims: “Joe Biden told the American people he had nothing to do with and never had conversations with his family about their business dealings. That was a lie. To be clear, Joe Biden is the ‘big guy.’”
Comer and Jordan state that photos show Vice President Biden meeting with Hunter’s business associates and that Hunter’s ex-business associates allege that Joe Biden was the “big guy” mentioned in several business correspondences and slated to receive 10% of the proceeds.
Comer added: “Committee Republicans have identified over 50 countries the Biden family sought business in. On the international side of the Biden family business, the deals were often led by Hunter Biden.”
Jordan and Comer note that several whistleblowers have referred to Joe Biden as “chairman of the board” and that he “personally participated in meetings and phone calls.”
Comer said: “As part of our investigation, we have evidence that the finances, credit cards, and bank accounts of Hunter and Joe Biden were commingled if not shared,” adding, “and on some accounts at least, red flags were raised by banks to the account owner or owners indicating suspicious or illegal activity.”
