Ghislaine Maxwell Has Clique of Powerful Inmates in Jail
A Friday report says that Ghislaine Maxwell, the partner of convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, is apparently well-connected to a group of powerful inmates in her Florida prison where she works at the library, makes pottery and excels at checkers.
Insiders told The Daily Mail that the British socialite is living comfortably at the Federal Correctional Institute Tallahassee, due in no small part to the fact that her fellow inmates respect her intelligence. Maxwell, who received an education from Oxford, was nominated by cellmates in her prison wing, Unit B South, to represent them in an annual checkers tournament in hopes to win prizes.
“You want the best players and she has a reputation for being smart,” an insider said. “The winning unit gets a really good meal, chicken wings, pizza, that sort of thing. It’s much better than the usual food.”
Maxwell also works six hours a day at the prison library, takes crochet lessons, plays board games and strolls through the low-security grounds with some of her friends.
A previous report shows that the former socialite, who is serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking minors, makes frequent trips to a quarter-mile running track and plays softball, apparently earning herself the nickname “Dottie” after Geena Davis’ character in the 1992 film “A League of Their Own.”
Maxwell isn’t the only high-profile prisoner serving her time at the prison, as her befriending incudes Narcy Novack, a Florida woman serving life for orchestrating the murders of her millionaire husband and his mother, and Linda Morrow, who helped her husband, a plastic surgeon, scam insurers out of millions.
“Ghislaine cried a lot when she first arrived. You could hear her yelling that everything was inhumane. She walked around like a zombie, her eyes were always puffy,” one recently released prisoner said. “Now she has some friends and is eating more. She’s bubbly, you see her smiling. She makes a point of saying good morning. You can see she’s visibly more comfortable.”
The prison could potentially be Maxwell’s home until July 17, 2037.
