Georgia Man Rescues Child, Holds Alleged Attacker at Gunpoint Until Cops Arrive
A Georgia man rescued a child from a violent assault and held the attacker at gunpoint until the police arrived.
Gun-toting hero Kelcey Willis told local news station WGXA that he had stopped for an oil change at a Walmart in Warner Robins, Georgia on Nov. 6 when he saw a man grab a screaming child from his car and drag him into the woods.
“The screaming kept getting louder and louder and that didn’t sit right with us,” Willis said. “My first instinct was to grab my gun and go get that kid out the woods.”
Willis said that he followed the pair into the woods, where saw the attacker throw the kid on the ground and started choking him. That’s when he whipped out his firearm and grabbed the child.
Warner Robins Police Department said in a Nov. 6 statement that Haimnarine Doobay, 67, had taken a child from a vehicle into the woods behind the Walmart, where he choked the youth. It added that Willis held Doobay at gunpoint until officers arrived.
Doobay was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and cruelty toward a child, the department said.
The child, who was related to Doobay, was brought to the Houston County sheriff’s office juvenile department for follow up and care, WGXA reported.
