Fauci Makes a ‘Startling Admission’ About COVID

White House chief medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci said recently that America would be dealing with COVID for decades.

“We’re in a pattern now. If somebody says, ‘You’ll leave when we don’t have COVID anymore,’ then I will be 105. I think we’re going to be living with this,” Fauci told Politico. A “startling admission,” as the publication put it, to say the least.

The response to the pandemic has been constantly in flux with Fauci changing by the day on whether or not the supposed danger has passed. For example, in an April interview Fauci said that the pandemic was over. Judy Woodruff of “PBS NewsHour” asked Fauci in an interview, “Here we are. It’s the end of April. It’s the spring of 2022. How close are we to the end of the pandemic?”

“We are certainly, right now, in this country out of the pandemic phase,” Fauci replied. “Namely, we don’t have 900,000 new infections a day and tens and tens and tens of thousands of hospitalizations and thousands of deaths. We are at a low level right now. So, if you’re saying, are we out of the pandemic phase in this country, we are.”

The very next day, Fauci walked back his comments.

“We are in a different moment of the pandemic,” Fauci told the Associated Press. While the U.S. has “decelerated and transitioned into more of a controlled phase” of the virus, he added, “by no means does that mean the pandemic is over.”

He later told The Washington Post: “The world is still in a pandemic. There’s no doubt about that. Don’t anybody get any misinterpretation of that.”

Fauci, an immunologist and director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, served on former President Donald Trump’s White House Coronavirus Task Force and is now President Joe Biden’s chief medical adviser on COVID.

Fauci has had no small role in ensuring that the Biden administration has a “perpetual emergency,” as the Wall Street Journal put it, after they announced that they would be extending the COVID-19 public health emergency on July 15:

“Monday’s news leak that the Biden Administration will extend the Covid-19 public-health emergency—which had been scheduled to end on Friday—for another 90 days was no surprise for a White House that seems to want a perpetual emergency.” the WSJ editorial staff wrote.
