A List of Republicans Who Have Backed Trump’s 2024 Bid
On Tuesday evening, former President Donald Trump became the first Republican to officially announce he was running for President in the 2024. Less than 24 hours after Trump’s announcement, several Republicans indicated their endorsement.
Trump formally announced his intent to run in 2024 at a gala event in Mar-a-Largo, Florida, on Nov. 15. During his one-hour speech, Trump declared he would “make America great and glorious again.”
The Washington Examiner noted several Party leaders have already pledged their support to the former President. The list includes:
Elise Stefanik
Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), leader of the House GOP conference, gave Trump her unqualified endorsement, saying that Trump was the clear leader of the Republican Party.
Speaking to the New York Times, Stefanik said: “I am proud to endorse Donald Trump for President in 2024. It is time for Republicans to unite around the most popular Republican in America who has a proven track record of conservative governance.”
Kari Lake
Lake has been an ardent supporter of Trump throughout her bid to become Arizona’s next governor.
“President Trump announces his ’24 Presidential run. He has my complete and total endorsement,” she tweeted.
Marjorie Taylor Greene
The Washington Examiner wrote that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is one of Trump’s “most enthusiastic supporters within the halls of Congress.” Before Trump’s Tuesday evening announcement, Greene told reporters:
“President Trump has my full endorsement and my support as our Republican nominee in 2024.”
Dr. Ronny Jackson
Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX), who served as White House Physician for President Donald Trump and Joe Biden, posted several tweets showing his unreserved support for the former President.
“President Trump is the GREATEST President I’ve ever seen. I’m on his side 100%! PRESIDENT TRUMP HAS MY COMPLETE AND TOTAL ENDORSEMENT,” he tweeted.
Troy Nehls
Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX), a conservative House Freedom Caucus member, referred to Trump as the “leader of the GOP.” Tweeting his support he wrote:
“My friend Donald J. Trump has my complete and total endorsement for President in 2024. He is the leader of the Republican Party, and we will make America great again,” he tweeted.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) stopped just short of endorsing Trump, stating he shares Trump’s goals and vision for America.
“As we listen to President Trump remind us of what is possible regarding our borders, economy, and national security, it is my hope that he will continue to focus on the solutions that he offered tonight to restore a broken America,” Graham tweeted.
Trump’s high poll numbers, Truth Social stats, and impressive attendance figures at his Make America Great Again rallies make him a formidable presence in the political arena.
Many expect most leaders in the GOP to delay announcing who they endorse until more declare their intent to run. Among the top contenders are Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tx.) and Governor Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.).
